SOCIAL ACTION FOR CHILDREN AND WOMEN
Mae Sot, Thailand (2019)

May of 2019, I embarked on a 6 week internship through GlobeMed with Social Action for Children and Women (SAW), an NGO founded and operated by Burmese migrants in Mae Sot, Thailand. I was one of five student interns (Sachika Singh, Ellena Privitera, Mathew Raj, & Aswin Bikkani) representing GlobeMed at UC. We share a commitment to GlobeMed’s emphasis on health equity, sustainable partnerships and community driven change.
Onsite, we gained a better understanding of our long term partner’s strengths and challenges while working closely with SAW’s administrators to determine how to best utilize our skills given the community's context. Collectively, we determined that consolidating SAW’s data from 2018 to create an annual report to portray their recent financial crisis to the English speaking world would have the greatest impact on fundraising efforts. I worked as the photographer & editor on the report.
